The Pasar Malam or Night market is one of the most looked forward event for residents of Bangsar. To say the least, night markets are one of the favourite hunting ground by Malaysians throughout the country for items and bargains on almost anything that has to do with everyday needs. This is where you will be able to buy from vegetables to poultry goods, fruits to fishes as well as manufactured products as well as cooked food like the famous Char Koey Teow, Asam Laksa, Satay and the Otak-Otak.

Previously, the Pasar Malam in Bangsar was held on Saturday nights, but due to the fact that Saturday nights were meant for those who comes to Bangsar for clubbing or for a drinking night out, it has since been moved on to Sundays to cater to those who are here for shopping thereby minimizing congestion and traffic jams here.

A few things to take note at the Bangsar Pasar Malam is that despite having almost anything under the Malaysian sun, prices of goods here are slightly higher compared to other pasar malams because they are catered for those in the middle to higher income group, but having said that, the prices are still lower as compared to those you can find in the surrounding malls like Bangsar Village and Bangsar Shopping Center. You must at all times be wary of your wallets and such as there might be pickpockets prowling on the careless at these markets.

Must trys

If there is one type of food you must try at every Pasar Malam, it would be the Assam Laksa where the aromatic spicy sauce will entice you towards them. Head out to SP Assam Laksa at the market which is located just opposite Devi's Corner. Otherwise you can try to get your hands on the infamous Stadium Popiah which are highly sought after and you would most likely need to wait a long time due to the long queues but would be worthwhile nonetheless.

Apong Balik and the Steamboat Styled Lok-Loks can be found at almost every inter junction of the Pasar Malam. There really isn't one that stands out here hence depending on your luck, if you spot one that has a lot of people waiting, then you won't go wrong. The only thing you have to do is to wait a long time perhaps, which can be difficult considering the crowded streets at the market.
